DMD Advocates Advises Promoter of Sunrise Sports on Tax Aspects of Yonex’s Strategic Stake Acquisition

DMD Advocates acted as tax advisor to the promoter of Sunrise Sports (India) Private Limited in connection with Yonex Co., Ltd.’s acquisition of a significant stake in the Delhi-based company.
Under definitive agreements signed on September 16th, 2026, Yonex, the Japanese sports equipment manufacturer known globally for its badminton racquets and shuttlecocks, will become a major shareholder in Sunrise Sports. Sunrise Sports has long served as Yonex’s distribution partner in India, and the investment deepens the relationship and reflects Yonex’s growing commitment to the Indian market.
DMD Advocates advised the promoter on the tax aspects of the transaction, working alongside the other advisors on the deal to align the commercial, regulatory and tax positions of the parties. The transaction brought together counsel and advisors from India and Japan.
